Over the next several seasons, Homewood Soccer will begin to introduce a reorganization of the structure surrounding and supporting—not only our competitive program—but all levels of play, in an effort to improve and create an easier and more accessible environment for all participants. One step in this process will be introduced this season with the standardizing of lesson plans for teams. The purpose of a standardized lesson plan is three fold:
- Primarily, it is in an effort to aid coaches to become more organized and have a reference when they’re designing their practices.
- Additionally, within the planned reorganization, topics will be introduced that are required to be taught by coaches during a season—this will aid the coaches in understanding what a topic is, how to coach it, and how to make it fun and effective!
- Finally, one goal of Homewood Soccer is to increase the number of licensed coaches. There are two primary coaching bodies in the US (please see our NSCAA and USSF pages). Thus;
With the probability that most of our coaches will encounter the USSF curriculum through different state level courses, the standardized Homewood lesson plan will be the USSF document.
