As you register players there are some important things to understand:

Soccer Ages: The soccer age of a player is set for the year based on the player’s age on July 31, 2010. That soccer age will stay the same until next July 31, even when the player has a birthday. In soccer, age groups are defined as under a given year, such as Under 10 (U-10). So for example a player with a Soccer Age of 9 will play in the age group Under 10 (U-10). When the player reaches a Soccer Age of 10, he/she will play U-11. Players may not play in an age group younger than their designated age group. In some circumstances players may play up in age groups, but the Homewood Soccer Program does not encourage it. (Patriot players with birthdates in August or September may request to play up with their class level).  If a parent wants to have that option considered they must send an email to the Soccer Director at homewoodsoccer@aol.com with an explanation.

Levels of Play: Homewood Soccer offers three levels of play. In the registration process you may have to pick between two levels if your age qualifies for more than one.

Patriots: For age groups U-4 through U-8. Players play once a week with a practice followed by a game. It is an intramural program without any travel.

Red Teams: Recreational teams for ages U-9 and up. Generally Homewood Soccer fields red teams up to U-14. Teams practice twice a week and play one game a week. Recreational teams are focused on maintaining a balance of player development, playing with friends, having fun, and a lower level of serious commitment. Teams play 4 home games and 4 games at other clubs in the Birmingham area.

Blue Teams: For ages U-11 through U-18. Blue Teams are select teams, put together through competitive try outs. The teams play in the competitive AYSA State League- Division II. Games are played state wide, although most are in the Birmingham area. Teams will play two tournaments and an annual State Cup Championship. The required level of commitment is high and there are additional costs above those of Red Teams.

Fees:
Patriots:           $ 80.00 per season

Red Teams:     $ 105.00 per season, players purchase their own uniforms.

Blue Teams:    $ 105.00 Registration Fee
$260.00 Blue Team Fee
$ 90.00 Uniform Fee

Patriot and Red Teams have a $25.00 additional fee for non-Homewood residents. Blue Team players pay an additional fee of $50.00 if a non-Homewood Resident

Registration Deadlines:

Patriots: August 20, 2010. Registrations will not be accepted after this date.

Red Teams: July 30, 2010. Team organization will begin on that date, but registrations will continue to be accepted until team rosters are full.

Blue Teams: Deadline for accepting firm offers for team positions is June 21, 2010. Players may be accepted after that date but it will be totally dependent on team needs.

The registration process works better if you can complete it at one time. If you must stop, when you return, just log in and follow the instructions. Near the end of the process you will be presented with an order summary listing the fees due.  On that same page you will be offered a chance to make a donation to the Homewood Soccer Program. Your consideration will be appreciated. You may pay the fees by credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) or by check, mailed to Homewood Soccer. Bank drafts are also offered as an option. After you have completed the payment part of the process, be sure to push the submit button.

Following your registration submission an email confirmation will be sent to the “Family e-mail Address.” Homewood Soccer Club offers a program of Financial Aid and Payment Plans. Information can be found on this web site at homewoodsoccer.com/Financial Aid and Payment Plans. If you experience any problems with the registration process, please contact David Putman, Soccer Director, at homewoodsoccer@aol.com or call 979-8974.
