HWSC has a big weekend!

Homewood Soccer Club's players had one of their most exciting  weekends of the fall season. Many of our players participated in the Homecoming festivities at Homewood High School and 20 of our teams competed in the annual Birmingham BASH soccer tournament.

Each year Homewood Soccer Club looks forward to joining the annual Homewood High School Homecoming Parade. Players meet prior to the start of the parade, in their uniforms or practice gear, and partake in the excitement as the parade goes through downtown Homewood. With such a large portion of our club residing in Homewood, we are appreciative of the continued support and proud to be a part of such a great city.
Homewood Academy 08 Boys, coached by our Academy Staff coaches and Academy Director Mason Cook, were crowned Birmingham BASH Champions for the Academy Boys 08 Division. The boys won all four of their matches for the tournament and played some very tough competition on their way to scoring 18 goals while allowing 10. The boys (and parents) were exhausted afterwards, but were happy to apply their hard work on the training ground over the weekend!
The Freedom 06 Girls coached by Crystal Pate finished as Champions for the 2006 Girls Silver Division. The girls finished as top of the bracket after 3 matches and went on to win a rematch against the Lady Phantoms 06 Blue. The girls finished with 8 goals in pool play while only allowing 1. Great work ladies and we can tell from the smiles how proud coach Crystal is!
The Eagles 05 Girls, coached by the dynamic duo of Mindy and Sean McBride, had a successful tournament making it all the way to the championship. The girls rolled into the final with having scored 11 goals and allowing 0 over their 3 wins. The girls fought hard against tough competition from Louisiana and fell 2-0 in the final. Keep up the hard work at training, girls!
The Eagles 05 Boys coached by Matt Sullivan finished the BASH as finalists for the 2005 Boys Bronze Division after dropping a tough one in the final to a team out of Hueytown. The boys had a win and a draw in pool play and advanced via a penalty shootout in the semi finals to ultimately fall 3-1 in the championship match. Having never participated in a penalty shootout, the boys really showed their nerve and despite a few parents nearly fainting on the sideline it was a great learning experience for the team.
